EXAMINE PIPES AND FAUCETS

A good first step is to check the pipes and faucets in your facility’s kitchens and bathrooms. If you find any signs of seeping, sweating, leaking, cracking, rusting, or corrosion, it might be time for a repair or a replacement.

INSPECT TOILETS

Save money on your water bill by checking all toilets for leaks or damage. If you see any wet surfaces on or by the toilet, it might be a sign of a broken seal or joint that your facility management team can easily repair.

CHECK YOUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM

Before you turn on your facility’s sprinkler system this spring, do a quick overall inspection. This can involve ensuring that your sprinkler heads aren’t clogged and are free of buildup. You can also check to see if sprinkler heads were damaged in the winter that you need to replace.

CLEAR OFF YOUR ROOF AND MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS

Winter and spring storms often result in excessive buildup on your facility’s roofs. First, clear any debris and leaves off the roof and clear out your gutters. After you’ve cleaned off your roof, inspect it for any issues that may need repairing.

SERVICE ANY OUTDOOR MACHINERY OR EQUIPMENT

Occasionally outdoor equipment and tools that were in your facility’s storage during the winter need some extra TLC when spring rolls around. First, check to ensure that there are no leaks in any tanks, that oil, gas, and necessary fluids are topped off, and that any needed machinery repairs are made.

TEST AC UNITS

Although you may not be running your facility’s air conditioning until late spring or early summer, now is a great time to check to ensure all your AC systems are functioning properly. First, clean off any dirt and dust that may have accumulated on the units. Next, perform regular maintenance on the filters, coils, and fins to ensure they are running efficiently.

CLEAN WINDOWS

Spring is an ideal time to manage your facility’s window washing. Now that it is warmer, your team can scrub away any winter dirt and grime build up on the glass. Don’t forget about the interiors!

CLEAN UP ANY LANDSCAPING DAMAGE FROM WINTER

Snow, cold, and ice may have caused significant damage to your outdoor foliage during the winter season. Now that it’s spring, clean up any limbs that may have broken and clear out any accumulated leaves. It can also be helpful to manage any lawn or mulch bed damage caused by snowplows.
